Hello Mateys, welcome back to this week’s blog! I hope you’ve been enjoying the rough seas, sailing away to far away lands and of course playing Pirate’s Boom Boom. So far the highest level is 94, with close seconds in the 70s and 50s. I think level 96 is the realistic peak for the game in its first expansion – but we will see!
I had an idea to do a showcase of a developer playthrough to talk about the little fun quirks of the game and to help players that are struggling with the bottleneck points in the game. The design made it so that if you are missing a certain item or a talent at a high enough point, that the game will become a great challenge, sometimes nearly impossible. Though I believe through testing and trying different strategies that they can be overcome, but by a very thorough attempt. My plan is to do multiple sessions that showcase ten levels at a time – as every ten levels there are different goals to progress. We think that this design makes Pirate’s Boom Boom one of the best pirate video games.
A quick StoryMode update as well as we are finishing up our first episode, we’ve discovered a very exciting way to deliver the stories in a format that combines reading, listening, watching and playing all at once. This is a very unique and fresh approach, even though we are utilizing very old forms of story-telling. Our approach allows us to capture story points and build up the character arcs as well as the overall themes and ideas. This will help to make this game one of the most fun pirate games.
Another batch of news to update our favorite scallywags is we are going to be pitching our game at the GDBay platform in early November. This gives us an exciting opportunity to showcase our game, our progress and secure future funding for the game development to continue. We’ve reached out to potential partners and publishers with the intention to partner up. As we progress in this process we will continue to update you, to bring you the best news. On a Story mode related note, we started thinking about the music that we will have to include to work along-side the story. And our initial gut feeling is that it will be a very different feel than the Arcade Mode music that we have done. It might take on a much more folky traditional feel, but we never know. As always I love the beginning of the music process, as often we are totally in the dark on what will work. With that in mind, I am very excited to be working alongside Mike Kenny again, as we embark on that journey together. I have no doubts in mind that the result will be a surprising and refreshing take that players will love. Our efforts in discovery and exploration always yield interesting results that we did not expect and will hopefully make Pirate’s Boom Boom of the best pirate games android.
